Free travel to Covid-19 vaccination centres

Medilink electric bus

Update 13 May 2021:

Changes to concessionary pass use from Monday 17 May

Previously, concessionary pass holders attending early morning COVID-19 vaccination appointments have been able to board a bus or tram for free in the Nottingham area for journeys made before 9.30am on weekdays.

As lockdown restrictions ease, public transport is getting busier and as a large number of people have since had vaccinations, a decision has been agreed between Nottingham City Council and local operators to no longer permit free travel to most concessionary pass holders before 9.30am on weekdays on any local bus or tram, effective from start of service on Monday 17 May.

The exception to the rule is that Nottingham City Council issued Mobility pass holders will be able to continue to access this benefit for the foreseeable future.

26 January 2021

To help people get to their Covid-19 vaccine appointments as safely and easily as possible, we’re providing free travel to concessionary card holders before 9.30am.

We’ve worked with bus and tram operators to extend the existing free travel – which already applies from 9.30am until 11pm – to help people make early appointments.

This applies to both Nottingham and Nottinghamshire concessionary card holders making an essential journey to receive their vaccine. Just present your appointment letter with your card when boarding.

We’ve also added the King’s Meadow vaccination site to the Medilink route to give people more ways to get to their jabs.

Remember – we all still need to stay home, stay safe, and avoid unnecessary journeys wherever possible – but travelling for your vaccination is essential travel, and don’t forget you must wear a face covering when on public transport.
