M1 weekend closure – 11-13 May

The M1 will be closed in both directions this weekend (Fri 11 – Sun 13 May) between junctions 23A and 24 to enable a bridge to be installed over the motorway.

Highways England will close the motorway to southbound traffic from 10pm on Friday 11 May, and from midnight on the same day to northbound traffic. The road will reopen in both directions at 3pm on Sunday 13 May.

A diversion will be in place along the A453 for the duration of the works.

Significant congestion is expected and SEGRO has advised drivers to avoid the area if possible, or allow extra time for their journeys, in particular if travelling to East Midlands Airport.

Other routes are likely to be affected, including the A50, A42 and A453. Motorists are advised to consider alternative routes, travelling times or modes of transport.

The Skylink Express service between Nottingham Station to East Midlands Airport has been suspended between 8.30pm Friday 11 May and 3pm Sunday 13 May. The Skylink Nottingham service will continue to operate.

The Kegworth Bypass Bridge forms part of wider road improvements being made to support the SEGRO Logistics Park East Midlands Gateway development. More details can be found here.
