What is happening?

Work on Wilford Road at it’s junctions with Waterway Street and Castle Meadow Road will begin to increase capacity on this key route around the city.

When completed, this route will improve traffic flow by providing extra capacity at the two junctions on the Southern Relief Route, which is becoming a more important route in the city as a result of changes in the Broadmarsh area.

How will this affect traffic?

To minimise traffic disruption, the works will take place during off peak hours of 9.30am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday, so as not to interfere with citizens’ commutes.

There will be weekend work with turning restrictions but these will be supported by clearly signed diversions.

There will be no right turns from Waterway Street to Wilford Road on all weekends during the works from 17-18 February, with no ahead provision from Queens Drive to Wilford Road on the weekends of 3-4 March, 10-11 March and 24-25 March.
