Recently, the Department for Transport published statistics on the number of Electric Vehicle (EV) chargepoints in each Local Authority Area in the UK.

We are pleased to announce that Nottingham ranked in the top 20% in all categories! Including for the number of rapid chargepoints, with 53 rapid chargepoints across Nottingham, many of which are on the councils own D2N2 network. Read more about charging on our D2N2 network here.

Nottingham also ranked in the top 20% for the number of chargepoints per person with 55.2 chargepoints per 100’000 population and for overall chargepoint numbers with a total of 186 devices. Broad Marsh car park alone has 42 charging posts providing 83 charging sockets!

There have been over 76,000 charging sessions in total since the network began. Through these charging sessions, it is estimated that around 820,000 kg of CO2 has been saved across all D2N2 chargepoints in Nottingham. Wow!

To continue helping residents reduce emissions and switch to EVs, we are constantly expanding the D2N2 charging network. There is ongoing work to provide more residential charging provision through Levelling Up Funding.

We are also supporting local Nottingham businesses to decide if EVs are right for them. EVs are often cheaper to run and maintain, plus they contribute to lowering vehicle emissions. The Electric Van Experience offers businesses the chance to trial an electric van for free, on loan from us.
