Why is this happening?
Cadent Gas are upgrading and replacing 2,000 metres of gas pipes under Derby Road.
The works will begin on 9 January 2023 and be in place for around 12 weeks. The diversion route specified by National Highways will be outlined below, with the diversion route signposted.
The frequency of repair work needed on this pipe under Derby Road has resulted in Cadent deciding to bring the replacement works forward.
What is happening?
Cadent are upgrading pre-World War Two gas pipes under Derby Road from Monday 9 January, resulting in a complete closure of the A52 westbound (leaving the city) between the QMC and Priory Island. The closure is 24/7 and for approximately 12 weeks.
- A signed diversion will take drivers along the A6005 (University Boulevard) and Woodside Road before rejoining the A52 at Priory Island. Please avoid travelling by car if you can – and allow extra time for journeys.
- Trent Barton services i4 and Red Arrow will be impacted, with delays expected to Skylink and Indigo services using University Boulevard.
- Nottingham City Transport services orange 35 towards Bulwell and Orange 36 will divert
- Other bus services including Medilink may be affected by extra traffic on nearby roads
