The Western Cycle Corridor – your thoughts

Earlier this year we asked for your thoughts on the Western Cycle Corridor.

Opened in 2017, the corridor is separated from the main flow of traffic, providing a safer route for cyclists into the city centre.

Here’s what you told us:

  • 8 in 10 thought their journey was now safer
  • 75 per cent said their journey was more pleasant
  • 6 in 10 use the corridor to get to work or education
  • 9 in 10 said the main reason they chose to cycle was for health and wellbeing

Congratulations to respondent Eric Foxley – the lucky winner of a £50 shopping voucher, seen here receiving his prize from Cycling and Roadspace Transformation Manager John Bann. Dunkirk resident Eric, 82, regularly uses the corridor on his electric bike.
