Car Club

Want access to a car but not the costs that come with it?

If you need short term flexible hire of a car then Nottingham’s Enterprise Car Club might be just the solution you need.

Nottingham City Council has teamed up with Enterprise Car Club to provide vehicles in 20 locations across the city. Cars at Clifton and Toton Park & Ride make the tram a convenient and flexible option for journeys around the south and west of the city, and more locations are on the way. By joining Car Club, residents, visitors and businesses can unlock cars with their phones and rent them by the hour/day. Payment is based on hire and mileage driven.

Benefits of using Nottingham Car Club

  • Save you money – drivers who do less than 7,000 miles per year could save around £3,500 through petrol, insurance, tax and general car maintenance cost savings
  • 24/7 access to vehicles in Nottingham and other participating cities
  • No parking hassles – each car has its own designated bay
  • Cleaner and greener – many of the vehicles are hybrid or fully electric. Car club vehicles produce 43% less CO2 from exhaust pipe emissions than the average UK car
  • Reduce the number of cars on the road – one car club car can result in removing 24 private vehicles off the road, due to members eventually selling their own car in place of a membership
  • Local businesses can also benefit as a car club hire can deliver a lower cost per mile than a fleet or pool car journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

For all operational issues including bookings and technical difficulties, accidents and incidents with the car you need to contact Enterprise Car Club through their Clubhouse on 0345 266 9290.

How does pricing work?

You pay a simple hourly/daily rate for the time you reserve the vehicle plus a mileage charge. Enterprise take care of the breakdown cover, insurance, MOT’s, servicing, cleaning etc leaving you to just enjoy the journey. The estimated cost of your trip (less any mileage charges) will be displayed before you confirm each reservation.

Are there any restrictions to joining?

There is a minimum age restriction of 19. If you are between the ages of 19 and 21 and have held your full licence for a minimum of 1 year, you can become a member on our ‘Under 22‘ membership plan. On the Under 22 plan, you can use any of our small and medium vehicles from 5am to 10pm. If you’re over 22, you can join as soon as you have a full licence. There are no upper age limits, meaning older drivers can join and use the service, but those over 75 might need to provide a doctor’s note confirming fitness to drive and may face specific checks.

Do I have to bring the vehicle back to the same bay that I picked it up from?

Yes, at the end of your reservation you must return the vehicle to the same bay you picked it up from.

How do I get into the vehicle. Do I need a key?

Members access the vehicles by a push of a button on the Enterprise Car Club app on a smartphone.

Will I have access to any of your vehicles across the UK?

Yes you will. This is a major benefit of being a member of Enterprise Car Club. Members can access every single one of Enterprise’s cars in any city where they operate.

What happens when I need to fill the car with petrol or diesel?

All of our vehicles are equipped with a fuel card (you’ll find it tucked into the glovebox). Simply fill up the vehicle as normal (check whether the vehicle takes petrol or diesel) and hand the fuel card over to the cashier along with a four digit pin that you will receive on your reservation email. Please return the vehicles with at least a quarter tank of fuel for the convenience of the next member.

Can I hire a Car Club vehicle on the Ride app?

To rent an Enterprise Car Club (ECC) vehicle in the Ride app, you must have an ECC account. This can be set up via the ECC app or website. Once you have an account, select the below car rental icon in the app and follow the booking instructions.
