How to download the Lime app:

  1. Open the App Store or Google Play Store: Locate and open the app store on your mobile device.
  1. Search for “Lime”: Use the search function within the app store to find the Lime app. It may have the icon (see right) which is Lime’s logo.
  1. Download the App: Once you’ve found the Lime app (typically named “Lime – #RideGreen”), tap the “Get” or “Install” button to download and install it.
  1. Open the App and Create an Account: After installation, open the Lime app and follow the prompts to create a new account. This will involve providing some personal information and agreeing to their terms and conditions. You will also be required to verify your age; this is done by taking a selfie and the app has technology that will be able to verify if you are +18. You will also need to add in your bank details, but do not worry, you will only ever be charged after completing a ride

What to do before starting your ride:

  • You may wish to familiarise yourself with where there is active travel infrastructure in the city which you may find could make your journey more comfortable. The Nottingham Cycle Map: Cycle Maps – Transport Nottingham outlines where there is are cycle tracks separate from the road, where you share paths with pedestrians, and recommended roads for cycling.
  • Look at the app to make sure you don’t intend to travel near, or into, “no-go” zones. These are areas where the electric motor for the e-bike will immediately cut off. They are marked with a red boundary on the app.
  • You may need adjust the saddle height of the e-bike. The saddle should be at the same height as the top of your hip bone. You adjust the saddle by pulling the lever loose to release the saddle and pushing the lever firmly into place when at the correct height.

How to start a ride:

  1. Use the map in the Lime app to locate nearby vehicles
  2. When you have located a bike, at the bottom right corner of the map on the app, select scan.
  3. Scan the QR code located on the black panel in between the handlebars
  4. You will hear a jingle when you can begin your ride. At that point, release the kickstand which may be propping the e-bike up, and safely

How to end a ride:

You must park within a designated parking bay.

Parking bays may be markings on the ground, or look like the below:

Your vehicle must be upright and with the kickstand down, not blocking pedestrian pathways, building entrances or driveways. If you don’t, you risk receiving a warning or a fine.

Hit End Ride on the app and you will then need to follow the instructions to take a photo of your e-bike correctly parked.

You will then be shown a receipt which details the final cost of the ride. Any promo codes which you added to your account will be automatically removed.
