Nottingham City Council have successfully retained the prestigious Safer Parking accreditations for a number of car parks following a recent assessment by the Police Crime Prevention Team.

The accreditations, which replace the former Park Mark scheme following its transition back to Police Crime Prevention Initiatives (Police CPI) in April 2026, recognise car parks that are safe, well managed and designed to deter crime and anti-social behaviour.

The Safer Parking Scheme is a UK-wide, police-backed initiative that independently assesses parking facilities against rigorous safety and management standards. Accreditation provides reassurance to residents and visitors that a facility has measures in place to reduce the likelihood of crime and create a positive user experience. The Accessible accreditation, developed in partnership with Disabled Motoring UK, also recognises facilities that go above and beyond in supporting disabled users. The following car parks have retained their Safer Parking accreditation:

Sherwood: Hall Street, Winchester Street and Spondon Street
Bulwell: The Station, Duke Street East, Duke Street West and Gilead Street

In addition, Duke Street West, our dedicated disabled-only car park in Bulwell, has achieved the Safer Parking Accessible accreditation. This additional recognition highlights the site’s high standards of accessibility, including large and clearly marked accessible parking bays, good lighting and a clean, well-maintained environment for disabled motorists.
