Check out our new Travel Well podcast

March 18, 2025

The Travel Well team has just launched an exciting new podcast series, offering an in-depth look at different aspects of the programme. In a recent episode, Women in Tandem—a group dedicated to empowering women through cycling—talk about their women-only Travel Well cycling activities. In this interview, Emily, co-managing director of Women in Tandem, speaks with Abi, a local resident who joined a Travel Well activity. Through the programme, Abi not only built her confidence, skills, and passion for cycling but also went on to become a volunteer and then staff member at Women in Tandem.

In the podcast, Abi describes her cycling experience as limited to “once or twice every summer”. However, her first group ride proved to be a turning point. She said “it was great because there was a nice small group and a lot of us were newish to cycling”. Abi speaks about how she now has volunteers saying “I came along and helped out at a few workshops again to help better my own knowledge and meet more people and just be part of a community” and when an official part-time role came up, she became a member of the team.
