Quick reminder that, throughout August, children and young people in Nottingham can travel for free on participating local bus services.

The offer will help families save money on summer travel and give young people more freedom to reach days out, summer jobs, college open days, training opportunities and social activities.

Children aged from five to 15 can simply hop on board participating local services. Young people aged 16 to 18 should bring proof of age and check their bus operator’s website before travelling.

The initiative is running in the county as well as in Derby and Derbyshire. Where an operator does not specify a separate process, a valid b_line card will be accepted on board. Under-fives travel for free at all times of the year.

Some bus operators have requested that under-11s must be accompanied by an adult, so check ahead of your journey.

Funding for under-15s has come from the Government’s Great British Summer Savings offer, while the Mayor of the East Midlands, Claire Ward, is paying for this to be extended to include 16 to 18-year olds across Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, Derby and Derbyshire.
