How Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust used their Workplace Travel Service grant

October 16, 2024

Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust are one of many organisations who have taken advantage of a grant via our Workplace Travel Service.

They applied for help with shower facilities and a new secure bike shelter, both to enable staff who wanted to cycle into work.

Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust is the leading wildlife conservation charity working to protect and enhance the wildlife and habitats of Nottinghamshire. We care for dozens of nature reserves across the county, engage the local community through events, education and volunteering opportunities and seek to ensure our county is a healthy and wildlife rich place to live. They employ around 120 staff across our head office, reserves, East Midlands Environmental Consultancy (EMEC) and Trading company.

The Trust already provided a cycle to work scheme for employees, so they applied for a grant to improve the facilities available at work, including

  • an updated and expanded shower and changing area
  • a secure bike shelter
  • a ramp to help cyclists navigate steps up to the shelter

“I rely on my bike to get everywhere, so it’s important for me to have a secure place to leave it. The new shelter keeps my bike safe and protects it from the rain as well, which is brilliant!” – Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust employee

The grants, funded from Government’s Local Transport Plan and Nottingham’s Workplace Parking Levy, are wrapping up soon so get your application in now.

How does it work?

  • If you’re a business, charity or public sector organisation based in Nottingham city, you could get help with the cost of EV chargers, cycle parking and shelters, showers, pool e-bikes and more.
  • If your application is successful businesses get 75% of the net costs. Public, voluntary sector, and charity groups can apply for 100%  funded grants.
