Nottingham City Council has been installing parking infrastructure to support the city’s e-bike scheme which is operated by Lime and e-scooter hire trial which is set to return later this year. The project is funded by the Transforming Cities Fund which was secured to deliver sustainable transport improvements across Nottingham and Derby as well as in parts of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
A total of 275 racks will be installed across the city and to date over 200 racks have been installed. The racks make parking areas more visible and encourage more orderly parking.
Thirteen on-road sites have recently been installed and are now active for users to park in. You can see these locations in the below table and map:
No. | Name | Ward |
---|---|---|
1 | Glaisdale Parkway | Bilborough |
2 | Glaisdale Drive East (1) | Bilborough |
3 | Glaisdale Drive East (2) | Bilborough |
4 | Faraday Road | Radford |
5 | Johnson Road | Lenton and Wollaton East |
6 | Rothesey Avenue | Lenton and Wollaton East |
7 | Kinbolton Avenue | Lenton and Wollaton East |

All parking sites are carefully assessed to balance the needs of hire scheme users, pedestrians, residents, parking and drivers. This means that in some parts of the city the best location for the rack is on the road. This enables people in parts of the city where parking cannot otherwise be provided to be able to access the hire e-bikes and e-scooters. This approach has already been used successfully in other e-bike and e-scooter schemes in the UK. The entrance to the racks faces the road to allow for easier entry/exit to/from the road for users, which removes the need to ride on the pavement and eliminates any potential trip hazards from kerbs.
