A project to improve Nuthall Road is ongoing. So far we have improved and resurfaced footpaths and the road, as well as improving footpaths where required and improving the area around the base of the trees where tree roots have damaged the footway on Nuthall Road, between Western Boulevard and Aspley Lane.
Work took place from 29th June until 3rd September and are now complete.
A new phase of works to resurface Nuthall Road between Llanberis Road and Cinderhill Island have begun on 14 September 2026.
For this final phase of works on the road the inbound road area is between Cinderhill Island and the Tesco filling station, and the outbound road area is from Llanberis Grove to Cinderhill Island. The section of Nuthall Road (inbound) between Cinderhill Island and the Tesco filling station, will be resurfaced to tie into the recent emergency resurfacing works undertaken here. Works also include resurfacing the Stockhill Lane and Broxtowe Lane junctions with Nuthall Road.
Civils Work: (14th September to 3rd October; 9:30am – 3:30pm)
Civils operations (kerbing, drainage works etc.) will be undertaken using lane closures. Traffic will still be able to travel into and out of the city on Nuthall Road, using lane 2 only.
• Monday 14th to Tuesday 22nd September – inbound lane 1 closure
• Friday 18th September to Friday 3rd October – outbound lane 1 closure
Resurfacing: (21st September to 15th October; 7:00pm – 6:00am)
Phase 1: (21st to 25th September & 15th October)
• Carriageway resurfacing operations will require closure of the inbound carriageway on the Nuthall Road, during this time a signed diversion route will be in operation.
• Stockhill Lane / Nuthall Road junction will be closed, diversion as shown in yellow on the attached plan.
Phase 2: (28th September to 14th October)
• Carriageway resurfacing operations will require closure of the outbound carriageway on the Nuthall Road, during this time a signed diversion route will be in operation.
• Broxtowe Lane / Nuthall Road junction will be closed, diversion as shown in green on the attached plan.

There are some parts of this project that we still need to programme. This includes improving the area around the base of the trees where the tree roots have damaged the footway and installation of tactile paving at crossing points. This is likely to be carried out under lane 1 closures.
