Maid Marian Way night works 23 September onwards

Night works began on Monday 23 September to prepare the roundabout to begin to function as a T-Junction as part of our Future High Streets Funded project. During these works, certain movements will not be possible, with diversions in place.

Phase 1 – Monday 23 – Thursday 26 September 10pm – 6am

  • Drivers will be unable to approach from Upper Parliament Street and turn right onto Derby Road
  • All other movements are unaffected
  • Diversion via Maid Marian Way and Peveril Drive

Phase 2 – Monday 30 September only 10pm – 6am

  • Drivers will be unable to approach from Tollhouse Hill and go straight onto Maid Marian Way
  • All other movements are unaffected
  • Diversion via Upper Parliament Street, looping around via Shakespeare Street, North Church Street and Burton Street to return to Upper Parliament Street and turn left onto Maid Marian Way

Phase 3 – Tuesday 1 October only 10pm – 6am

  • Drivers will be unable to approach from Maid Marian Way and turn right onto Upper Parliament Street
  • All other movements are unaffected
  • Diversion via Derby Road, Canning Circus and returning down Tollhouse Hill to turn left onto Upper Parliament Street

Phase 4 – Wednesday 2 October only 10pm – 6am

  • Drivers will be unable to approach from Tollhouse Hill and go straight onto Maid Marian Way
  • All other movements are unaffected
  • Diversion via Upper Parliament Street, looping around via Shakespeare Street, North Church Street and Burton Street to return to Upper Parliament Street and turn left onto Maid Marian Way

Phase 5- From Sunday 6 October 

  • The former roundabout becomes a T junction operated under temporary traffic lights
  • All movements are possible
  • Mount Street right turn opens for southbound traffic
  • Park Row left turn opens for northbound traffic
  • Vehicles are now able to turn right from Tollhouse Hill onto Derby Road thanks to new dedicated route

Work begins to transform Maid Marian Way roundabout this spring

The large roundabout where Maid Marian Way meets Derby Road and Upper Parliament Street will be revamped in a project beginning this spring.
