A new phase of improvements is being made on Nuthall Road from 29 June 2026.

We are resurfacing the road, footways where required and improving the area around the base of the trees where tree roots have damaged the footway on Nuthall Road, between Western Boulevard and Aspley Lane.

Work will begin on 29th June, continuing until 1st September, with some weekend work. The hours of work will vary to suit the network. Please see information below and attached plans for further details on inbound and outbound road closures and diversion routes.

The inbound carriageway runs from Western Boulevard to Aspley Lane. The outbound carriageway runs from Aspley Lane to Western Boulevard.

How will this affect you?

All Phases:

All restrictions are in operation during working hours only.
A pedestrian route will always be maintained, and crossings will remain in use.
Haslemere Road and Homefield Road will be closed at their junction with Nuthall Road during the hours of work.
Residents living on cul-de-sacs off Nuthall Road will be subject to restricted turning movements depending during different phases of work.
Access to businesses will be maintained.
There will be no parking, loading or unloading on Nuthall Road.
Buses that use Nuthall Road will follow a diversion route during the hours of work.
Bins will be collected on your usual day before 7am.

Phase 1: (29th June – 7th August)

• Civils operations will be carried out using lane 1 closures (i.e. the inside left lane) on both sides of Nuthall Road (inbound 9.30am to 5.30pm and outbound 7.30am to 4pm).
  You will still be able to travel into and out of the city on Nuthall Road, using lane 2 only.
• Footway resurfacing will begin. There will be localised footway closures in place.

Phase 2a: (9th August; 8am to 5pm)

• Carriageway resurfacing operations will require closure of the inbound carriageway on the Nuthall Road to allow resurfacing outside McDonalds & on approach to the junction with Aspley Lane; during this time a signed diversion route will be in operation.

Phase 2: (10th – 17th August; 9.30am to 5.30pm)

• Carriageway resurfacing operations will require closure of the inbound carriageway on the Nuthall Road, during this time a signed diversion route will be in operation.

Phase 3: (18th August – 1st September; 7.30am to 4pm)

• Carriageway resurfacing operations will require closure of the outbound carriageway on the Nuthall Road, during this time a signed diversion route will be in operation.

Further phases:

There are some parts of this project that we still need to programme. This includes improving the area around the base of the trees where the tree roots have damaged the footway and installation of tactile paving at crossing points. This is likely to be carried out under lane 1 closures.

We’ll also be returning to improve further sections of Nuthall Road (Llanberis Grove to Lime Tree Avenue). We will update transportnottingham.com with additional information on this nearer the time.
