Wollaton Road Bus Lane Scheme Update

November 29, 2024

We have been implementing the A609 bus lane scheme over the past 4 weeks.

Whilst the sections between Marchwood Close and Kennington Road have been performing well and not causing any issues, unfortunately, the section between the entrance and exit to Ringwood Crescent has not been performing as well as the traffic modelling suggested it would prior to its implementation, leading to additional delays for all road users in the morning peak between 8.00-9.00.

The scheme has been reviewed by the project team and as a result we will be removing the section of bus lane between the entrance and exit of Ringwood Crescent and returning it to a full traffic lane this Sunday evening, this will improve traffic stacking and flows on the approach to Crown Island and should address the congestion issues in the AM peak and traffic at times blocking the Eton Grove Junction.

We will continue to monitor this very closely over the coming weeks to check that the situation has improved.  New temporary signage will also be implemented next week advising that the remaining section of bus lane between Eton Grove and Ringwood Crescent will not be enforced until January 2025.
