Young people’s ticket offer expanded – Robin Hood 19-21 prices available to buy as Pay-As-You-Go passes from today

These can be bought at travel centres, via the Robin Hood Ticketing app and at tram-stop machines from Monday (11 March) onwards.

Robin Hood 19-21 prices will be available to buy as Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) passes from (Monday 11 March) at travel centres, via the Robin Hood Ticketing App and at tram stop machines. Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council are working in partnership to deliver Nottinghamshire U22, a new ticketing price point on buses and trams across the county offering student prices to all under 22-year-olds. The scheme aims to support all young people by improving access to travel for work, leisure and study.

Funding was secured by a bid from both councils to the Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) – a grant from central government to improve bus services across the city region.

Robin Hood 19-21 season tickets have been on sale since September 2023 at the same price as the Robin Hood student product, offering discounted travel to all under 22. The PAYG product will be available from 11 March to offer greater flexibility to those who don’t travel as regularly.

Councillor Angela Kandola, Nottingham City Council Portfolio Holder for Transport, said: “The Nottinghamshire U22 scheme has been successful so far, offering student prices to all people under 22 helps to improve access to public transport and offer young people more opportunities as they grow more independent. Our Robin Hood 19-21 season passes are a great option for regular travellers, but with the launch of the pay-as-you-go product we can now offer reduced prices without the commitment of a season pass.”

To qualify people must be between ages 19 and 21 and have proof of a Nottinghamshire address. Tickets will be available online, at travel centres, via the Robin Hood Ticketing Apps and at tram stop machines. Under 22 products will be available until March 2025, at which point the scheme will be reviewed.

In addition to the Robin Hood 19-22 products under 22 tickets operator specific tickets are available on all bus and tram operators in the county. Purchasing options vary by bus or tram company so passengers are advised to check with their operator before attempting to travel.
