At lot has changed since our last update on the charge point network, here’s a snapshot of what we’ve been up to…
What’s new?
Three sites have had new charging points installed:
- Queens Drive Park & Ride: Phase 1 – swap of out the 3.6 kW and 7.2 kW charging points
- Manvers Street contract car park – with one socket covering a fully electric Enterprise Car Club vehicle, while the other socket will be available for contract parkers
- Spondon Street car park: Phase 1 – parking is free in this Sherwood based car park, and there are now six 7.2kW sockets available for use.
Under construction
Work is underway in seven locations:
- Colwick Racecourse Park & Ride – works began this week to swap out the old units for newer, more reliable ones.
- Sneinton Market car park – Concrete has been laid for the four 7.2 kW posts (eight sockets) and a feeder pillar has been installed. Western Power Distribution will be connecting everything in the next few weeks.
- Harvey Hadden Sports centre – the foundations are in for the feeder pillar and seven 7.2kW posts (14 sockets)
- Rapid chargers are coming soon to Queens Drive Park & Ride, Spondon Street, Holborn Place and Gilead Street car parks. These have all been approved, but there’s a few technicalities to be ironed out between Chargemaster and Western Power Distribution before they can be installed.
What’s next?
Installation has been approved at ten other sites, we’re just waiting for dates to start the work.
- Clifton South Park & Ride – 8 fast sockets and 1 rapid
- Forest Park & Ride – 5 fast sockets
- Wilkinson Street Park and Ride – 26 fast sockets and 1 rapid
- Djanogly Community Leisure Centre – 2 fast sockets
- Land adjacent to DG taxis, Trent Lane – 1 rapid
- Nottingham Tennis Centre – 1 rapid
- Birchover Community Centre – 1 rapid
- Snapewood Community Centre – 1 rapid
- Clifton Leisure Centre – 1 rapid
- Nottingham Arena car park – 10 fast sockets
On the horizon
Around 140 sites have been visited and investigated as potential charge point locations – and wherever we can, we add these to the installation list. Some sites have had to be dropped – due to issues e.g. lack of power or landowner agreements, while others are still under investigation. We will soon be launching a live web map detailing all of these sites – watch this space.
